GCRG’s Fresh Meat – June 2013

Granite City Roller Girls will be holding their next quarterly Fresh Meat session at the Aberdeen Lads Club (Dill Road) from 10:00 – 12:00 on Saturday 15th June 2013.

Come along and get bitten by the Roller Derby Bug that’s sweeping the nation!

All we ask is that you are over 18, have a bit of gumption, a splash of spirit, a dose of commitment and a sense of humour.

We have skates and protective equipment all waiting for you to try on before the Derby Bug bites you and you rush off to buy yourself some pretty new gear

Joining GCRG is a brilliant way to get fit and meet new people!

Yes this is a women’s sport but GCRG are on the look out for referees, so any guys who would like to get involved in the sport should pop along too!

Deadly Divas Recruiting now!

Good news for prospective skaters in the Glasgow and East Renfrewshire area, as Glasgow’s second Roller Derby league, the Deadly Divas, have started actively recruiting again. We featured the Divas in our end of year round up, along with other newer Scottish leagues, so you can read about them here.

Capital City Fresh Meat

Edinburgh’s first Men’s Roller Derby team are recruiting! On Sunday 21st April, Capital City Roller Derby will hold their first Fresh Meat intake from 7pm – 9pm at The Crags Community Sports Centre, Edinburgh.

CCRD are looking for skaters aged 18 and over of any level (novice to expert) who are dedicated, enthusiastic and want to be part of their awesome team.  They are also looking for potential referees or NSO’s (Non-Skating Officials – both male or female) to register for their Fresh Meat program.

Equipment for this session can be loaned by existing members of CCRD, but they ask that you please register beforehand to avoid disappointment. Email newskaters.ccrd@gmail.com with your contact details and a member of CCRD will confirm your place.

FVRG Fresh Meat – 10th February 2013

After an extremely busy 2012, Fierce Valley Roller Girls are kicking off the New Year with a Fresh Meat intake!

Their taster session will take place on the afternoon of Sunday 10th February in Falkirk*. You will be buddied up with an experienced skater to go through the basics of skating (and stopping!) safely. You will also borrow their safety equipment and skates in this session – but please buy your own mouth guard (you can pick these up for under £5 from Sports Direct). There will be a couple of weeks rest after the taster, and then from Sunday 24th February you will start your dedicated 12-week training programme.

If you are interested in joining FVRG and are over 18 years old, please complete their Online Registration Form to reserve your place in this Fresh Meat intake.

*Times and venue for the taster session will be confirmed once you have registered online

On the 26th,is The Lothian Derby Dolls Halloween Roller Disco.

On the same night,Scotland’s newest Merby league,the Bairn City Rollers,are hosting a launch party at the Stenhousemuir Cricket Club,more details on their Facebook event page.

Dundee Roller Girls Want You!

It’s that time again. Yes that’s right ladies and gents, Dundee Roller Girls are opening their doors to everyone over the age of 18 to come and try out roller derby. Why not come and check out the fastest growing sport in Scotland? DRG will be hosting 3 open fresh meat nights, which is open to both men and women of all abilities and ages (over 18 only!). Full kit needed will be provided, all you need to do is turn up! The three nights of Fresh Meat kicks off on 26th September, second session 3rd October, ending on 10th October. Session starts at 7pm until 9pm at the DISC, Mains Loan, Dundee. We hope to see all your smiling faces there!
